Willie 'Martinez' McNeil presents his nine piece 40's & 50's Cuban group Mambo Loco. Willie was asked to form the band for a party at Danny Elfman and Bridget Fonda’s house in 2009. The band was such a hit and the players had so much fun, they decided to play some clubs and keep the group working.
The concept of the band was to play 40’s and 50’s Cuban music in the authentic style as well as keeping the dress and vibe of the era. There are plenty of groups that play American music with vintage sound and look, but this is the only Cuban music group that does both in Los Angeles.
Mambo Loco features vocalists Iris Sandra Cepeda and Gonzalo 'Chalo' Chomat. Both from Havana Cuba, they bring authenticity to the group performing classic Cuban music from a bygone era in vintage style. Filling out the group are band members from Sono-Lux and other top notch L.A. Latin players.
You'll hear songs from Perez Prado, Benny Moré and Celia Cruz as well as other classic Cuban standards. Mambo Loco has worked at the Edison in downtown Los Angeles for special events and with a residency on Wednesdays as well. Go crazy with Mambo Loco!
